Attorney for Trump lawyer Michael Cohen says Cohen performed secret legal work for Fox News commentator Sean Hannity

That is the Globe's top story

Every day their top story is some sort of hatchet job to the forehead of the president. What the Cohen situation does is allow the government to dig for dirt, then leak, dig for dirt, then leak.

So Cohen had Hannity as a client, so what? The pre$$ going to start a colonoscopy on all lawyer connections now? Who do the Clintons have on retainer? Hannity must have stumbled on some truth or is having an effect. That's why the ma$$ media wants to discredit him.

(flip)

Trump promised to ‘drain the swamp.’ So what’s happening with his Cabinet?

Pretty darn obvious to me: the neocon war crowd and Deep State sh**ers have, over the last year, and with the help of the pre$$, gradually replaced his people -- Flynn being the first -- with their own cretins. It's a rare instance where fractious Republicans and Democrats in Congress have come together. Trump is under siege, and he must look out at those surrounding him thinking WTF?

"You could argue that Trump, under overwhelming blackmail pressure, and with the help of Mattis and the communication lines with the Russians, did the best he could.  The thing is, the blackmail continues unabated, he won't have a Scooter pardon in the future to throw into the negotiation mix, and Khazar negotiation technique, as is well known, consists of taking all your concessions and using them to serve as the basis for your next round of concessions.  All this really buys is time to prepare for the next War For The Jews.  I think Trump is done - he has just delayed the inevitable.

You could even make the argument that Trump jumped the gun, and attacked before his whole fleet was in place, to remove the possibility of Russia sinking them all, just what the neocons want, as it would lead to their desired WWIII.  The fine art of Khazar management is something to ponder.  The whole thing can be seen as a kind of stage play in lieu of WWIII, a Russian-American co-production, with the Khazars in the audience, cheering loudly (while booing under their breaths).

From the same comment section, another extremely disheartening one - serious WWIII-mongering deep politics that nobody will notice - from robt willmann....." --xymphora

This didn't help him, either:

"President Trump’ message isn’t consistent with where things stand in global currency markets, but the president’s statement has greater validity if you look over a longer period. It is true that the Federal Reserve has been gradually raising interest rates in the last couple of years, and that you would generally expect higher rates to cause a currency to strengthen, which in turn can damage a country’s export sector, but the odd thing is these rate increases haven’t been accompanied by a rally in the dollar. A key driver for this seems to be an improving global economy that is increasing the appeal of other currencies. The president is crystal clear that he thinks the current arrangements of global currencies and trade are deeply flawed. He has yet to make clear what his ideas are to improve them....."

You don't go up against the bankers, sir (hopefully, he has Zuckerberg-like security).

"7 inmates killed as prisoners fight over money, territory" by Meg Kinnard Associated Press  April 16, 2018

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Inmates armed with homemade knives fought each other for about seven hours over territory and money, leaving seven of them dead in the worst US prison riot in a quarter-century, officials said Monday. An inmate who witnessed the violence said bodies were ‘‘literally stacked on top of each other.’’

Cellphones helped stir up the trouble, and state officials urged the federal government to change a law and allow them to block the signals from prisoners’ phones.

‘‘These folks are fighting over real money and real territory while they’re incarcerated,’’ said South Carolina prisons chief Bryan Stirling at a news conference.

No prison guards were hurt. Stirling said they followed protocol by backing out and asking for support. It took several hours to restore order, but once a special SWAT team entered, the inmates gave up peacefully, he said.

The prisoner who saw the riot exchanged messages with Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because he is not allowed to have a cellphone and fears retribution from other inmates.

The riot was the latest violence in the South Carolina prison system, where at least 13 other inmates have been killed by fellow prisoners since the start of 2017.

It was the most inmates slain in a single riot in the United States since nine prisoners and a guard died in 1993 at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, said Steve Martin, a consultant who helps the federal government monitor prison systems.

The inmate said, ‘‘The COs [correctional officers] never even attempted to render aid, nor quell the disturbance. They just sat in the control bubble, called the issue in, then sat on their collective asses.’’

Like in Hillsborough.

"Chemical weapons experts blocked from site of Syria attack" by Richard Pérez-Peña New York Times  April 17, 2018

LONDON — Western officials accused Syria and Russia on Monday of preventing weapons inspectors from reaching the site of a suspected chemical attack by the Syrian government that led to airstrikes by the United States and its allies over the weekend.

Inspectors from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons arrived in Syria on Saturday, but two days later, they still had not reached Douma. Syrian and Russian officials have told the chemical organization team “that there were still pending security issues to be worked out before any deployment could take place,” Ahmet Uzumcu, the organization’s director general, told its executive council Monday.

Later Monday, Major General Yuri Yevtushenko, of the military’s Reconciliation Center in Syria, said Russian military police were ready to help protect the experts on their planned visit to Douma, the Associated Press reported.

In a separate development Monday, Trump apparently has rejected, for now at least, a fresh round of sanctions set to be imposed against Russia, a course change that underscored the schism between the president and his national security team.

There he goes again!!

It's not a separate development, for if it were it wouldn't appear in this article, and what that shows you is the subtle deception they use to get you to link them.

The president’s ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, had announced Sunday the administration would place sanctions on Russian companies found to be assisting Syria’s chemical weapons program. The sanctions were listed on a menu of further government options after a US-led airstrike on Syrian in retribution for the suspected chemical attack.

But the White House contradicted her on Monday, saying that Trump had not approved additional measures. “A decision will be made in the near future,” Sarah Huckabee Sanders, White House press secretary, said in a statement.

Another subtle signal from Trump, and one wonders if the Lerner maneuvering is part of it.

Even as the war in Syria exacts a fearful toll on the ground, discussion of the suspected chemical attack has been wrapped in a fog of contradiction and confusion.

Nations made charges and countercharges, claiming to have damning but secret evidence about each other’s conduct, with Russia in particular spinning an array of theories of varying degrees of plausibility.....

"Cambridge police incident needs further scrutiny" April 17, 2018

CAMBRIDGE, A CITY that prides itself on being a bastion of progressive values, just proved (once again) it is not immune to the kind of unjust and unnecessary encounters between police and black civilians happening all over the country.

On Friday night, Selorm Ohene, a black Harvard undergraduate, was arrested after a physical confrontation with Cambridge police officers. He was charged with indecent exposure, disorderly conduct, assault, and resisting arrest. But the police response and the circumstances surrounding the arrest are alarming, at best. The case demands scrutiny not just from city officials, but state authorities as well.

Ohene, apparently under the effects of drugs, was standing naked in the middle of Massachusetts Avenue. After several to police, officers showed up and talked to the 21-year-old student, who was unarmed, according to the officers’ account. “After he was observed clenching both of his fists and started taking steps towards officers attempting to engage with the male, officers made the tactical decision to grab his legs and bring him to the ground,” the police reported.

The clenched fists gave him confidence, and the anger quickly faded.

Yet the video evidence shot by onlookers seems to tell a different story. So do members of the Harvard Black Law Students Association, some of whom witnessed the altercation. They said Ohene did nothing to provoke the officers’ escalated reaction. Four law enforcement officers tackled and pinned Ohene to the ground; the video shows at least one officer punching him at least four times in the torso as he remained down. Witnesses report a pool of blood was left on the site of the confrontation.

It is unclear why there was need for such an extreme response. One of the first questions to explore: Would police actions have been the same if the offender had been white?

If he was naked and tripping, yeah, I think it would have been!

The difference would be the reaction of the Bo$ton Globe. We wouldn't have read about it, and the Harvard students wouldn't have cared.

Promises of transparency are welcome because the department has a troubling history of escalating encounters rather than de-escalating them.

A year and a half ago, an incident in Porter Square made national headlines when a Cambridge police sergeant in plain clothes overreacted and attempted to criminally charge a black Dorchester man who shoulder-bumped him on the street. The Dorchester man ended up charged with disorderly conduct, while the sergeant seemingly faced no disciplinary action. In 2009, the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., who is black, by a white Cambridge police officer, drew the attention of then-President Barack Obama.

The infamous beer summit, and see how far we have come?

Too often, there are no consequences for police who abuse authority or use unnecessary force. When such an act of gratuitous brutality occurs in one of the most liberal cities in America, it only underscores the scope of the problem.....

The Globe is going to use this to push the agenda?

I would be looking in the rearview mirror if reporting from there from now on.

--more--"

I watched the video and how long were they supposed to wait to take him into custody? They are standing there talking to him, and then he takes two steps towards one of the cops before they act.

Btw, where is the personal responsibility? It's not like he was a peaceful protester being oppressed. What if he had darted out in to traffic and had been killed?

Had that been the case, the students and the pre$$ would be complaining that the police didn't take him into custody.

"Cambridge police commissioner backs officers in Harvard student’s arrest" by Meghan E. Irons Globe Staff  April 17, 2018

So do I. They were in a can't win situation -- and the Globe is going to flog them with it.

CAMBRIDGE — Cambridge Police Commissioner Branville G. Bard Jr. defended his officers Monday amid a growing backlash over the forcible apprehension of a visibly distressed black Harvard University student who was naked and allegedly hallucinating on drugs.

Should have reasoned with him (and they tried if the video is accurate).

The police officers’ actions Friday night drew a strong rebuke from Harvard president Drew Faust, who called the events “profoundly disturbing.” The mayor of Cambridge, Marc McGovern, expressed similar criticism.

The police department’s professional standards unit was notified of the matter Saturday and will conduct an internal inquiry into the incident, which involved three Cambridge officers and a transit officer, authorities said.

Standing before reporters Monday at Cambridge Police Department headquarters, Bard explained that subduing a flailing and combative person is tough, and urged the public to not cast judgment on the officers’ actions based on “20-20 hindsight,” which he said is unfair.

I've made mine.

“If anyone ever had to constrain an individual against their will,’’ Bard added, “they will know it’s a very difficult thing to do.”

Especially when he/she is tripping on acid (isn't that stuff illegal?).

While he will let the internal inquiry play out, he said, “I absolutely do support the officers.’’

“You have to judge their actions within the context of a rapidly evolving situation and not with [an] ‘ideal construct,’ ” he said.

But that would short-circuit the agenda-pushing, divisive quality of the story.

In a statement over the weekend, the Harvard Black Law Students Association called the apprehension of Selorm Ohene “a brutal instance of police violence,’’ adding that officers lunged at Ohene, tackled him, and pinned him to the ground without provocation.

“We demand that the officers who assaulted this man while he was naked, fully subdued, and bleeding on the ground be investigated and held accountable,’’ said the group’s letter, signed by “Members of the Harvard Community.”

Faust said that while all of the facts are not yet known, the incident raises important issues about the relationship between police and the communities they serve, student health resources, and the manner in which university units operate with each other and their community partners.

“The events of Friday night are profoundly disturbing,’’ Faust wrote in a letter to the university community Monday. “A Harvard student was in obvious distress, and we need to understand how that came to be and whether we could have interceded earlier and more effectively.”

Okay to take acid then, huh?

She said the arrest occurred against the backdrop of increasingly urgent questions about race and policing in the United States and about racial disparities in health care.

Related:

"The actions come partly in response to a Boston Globe Spotlight series on race published in December. It included data showing a lack of minority physicians at some of the city’s elite hospitals, and evidence of persistent segregation patterns among patients. MGH said its efforts were underway before the Globe’s stories were published, but the series increased focus on diversity issues. The seven-part series examined whether Boston deserves its longstanding reputation as a place unwelcoming to blacks. Relying on data analysis, surveys, and personal stories, the Spotlight team focused on the core of the city’s identity: its renowned colleges, world-class medical institutions and championship sports teams; the expanding skyline, especially the new Seaport neighborhood; and business and politics. In its health care analysis, the Globe found that blacks in Boston are less likely to get care at several of the city’s elite hospitals, including Dana-Farber and Mass. General....."

This is such $elf-$erving sh*t from the most racist city in America.

Vice Mayor Jan Devereux said the video is “hard to watch,’’ but she and City Manager Louis A. DePasquale, the police commissioner’s boss, said they are confident in Bard’s ability to conduct a thorough review.

Bard, who started as commissioner in August, said officers are trained to use the “least amount of force necessary,’’ by first engaging verbally, then moving up what he calls a “force continuum,’’ which includes verbal commands, “control holds,” and other “less than lethal force” measures — anything from punches, kicks, use of a baton, or pepper spray.

He should be grateful he wasn't tasered.

That would have been a hell of trip, huh?

Cambridge police are equipped with a baton, pepper spray, and a gun, officials said. A baton was used to wrest Ohene’s hand behind him so he could be handcuffed and safely transported to a hospital, they added.

The incident began after police responded to a 911 call from a woman who said a naked man had thrown his clothes into her face. Six other callers reported seeing the naked man, who was identified later as Ohene, 21, of Cambridge, officials said.

So a bunch of calls came in, man naked on traffic island?

The police arrived at 9:09 p.m. at Massachusetts Avenue and Waterhouse Street, along Cambridge Common in Harvard Square.

They attempted to verbally engage Ohene on the median on Mass. Ave., Bard said. At some point they learned from his friends that he might have ingested hallucinogenic drugs, the commissioner said.

I'm wondering where he got the stuff.

“Numerous attempts were made by the officers to calm down the male,” the commissioner, who is black, said at the press conference. “But they were met with opposition and hostility. It escalated.”

In the police incident report, officers said they feared he would hurt himself or them and that he “absolutely could not be reasoned with.”

Officers tried to speak to Ohene for “minutes,” Bard said, but when they observed that he was clenching his fist and moving in their direction “a decision was made to take the individual down.”

A video, shot by a bystander and released by police, shows an officer grabbing Ohene’s legs from behind and knocking him forward into another officer. The three men fall to the pavement, and, with the help of a third officer, Ohene is pinned to the ground.

“Help me, Jesus! Help me, Jesus!” Ohene is heard saying in the video. A fourth officer helps restrain Ohene, and one of the officers can be seen striking Ohene.

Another religious nutty?

Bard said that once on the ground, Ohene continued kicking and flailing. Two officers suffered minor injuries.

Bard said that, ideally, the officers would have engaged the individual verbally and taken him into custody.

“But we don’t live in an ideal world,’’ he said. “We operate in a practical world.”

Globe thinks we do.

As Ohene was taken to Mount Auburn Hospital for mental health evaluation, Bard said he spat a mix of saliva and blood into the face of a paramedic in the ambulance.

The poor, distressed man!

Officials are awaiting the results of Ohene’s mental health evaluation before determining whether he should face charges, which include disorderly conduct, indecent exposure, and assault and battery on the paramedic.

OMFG!

He's going to get off?
